What Makes Black and Grey Tattoos So Timeless?

As the famous saying goes, once you go black, you never go back. And that definitely applies to tattoos. Here are just some of the many reasons why we see a constant influx of clients clambering to get through the doors of our black and grey tattoo studio.

Script & Soul

Delicate yet expressive, Script & Soul is all about flow, emotion, and elegance. This style transforms meaningful words into art with soft curves, graceful loops, and custom flair. Whether it’s a loved one’s name, a quote that grounds you, or a phrase that sparks inspiration, script lettering gives your story a timeless, handwritten touch. Ideal for wrist pieces, collarbone placement, or anything intimate and heartfelt.

Type & Truth

Minimalist doesn’t mean boring. Type & Truth is for those who want their words to hit with clarity and strength. Using bold, clean lines and carefully spaced fonts, this style focuses on balance and legibility while still packing a punch. It’s perfect for affirmations, dates, and single-word power statements. If you want your ink to be bold, intentional, and effortlessly cool—this one’s for you.

Lines That Speak

A fusion of art and message, Lines That Speak is where style meets storytelling. This versatile style combines classic and contemporary lettering forms—elegant curves, bold shapes, and artistic flourishes—to create tattoos that are deeply personal and visually striking. Whether you’re immortalizing lyrics, poetry, or life mantras, this approach ensures every line speaks with individuality and purpose.

What’s the best font to use for a lettering tattoo?

It depends on the message, size, and vibe you’re going for. Script fonts are great for elegant or emotional pieces, while serif or bold typefaces work well for strength and clarity. Your artist can help you choose or even create a custom style that fits perfectly.

Smaller fonts or very thin lines can blur slightly over the years, especially in areas with more friction or sun exposure. To avoid this, we recommend avoiding overly tiny text and sticking with clean, readable designs.

Yes! Just make sure your spelling and translation are 100% correct before the appointment. We’ll be happy to stylize it, but the meaning is your responsibility.

As a rule of thumb, script should be at least 1 cm tall (about ½ inch) to hold up well over time. Ultra-small text may blur or lose detail with healing and aging.
